Understanding Mixed-Effects Models Through Data Simulation

چکیده

Experimental designs that sample both subjects and stimuli from a larger population need to account for random effects of using mixed-effects models. However, much this research is analyzed analysis variance on aggregated responses because researchers are not confident specifying interpreting This Tutorial explains how simulate data with random-effects structure analyze the linear regression (with lme4 R package), focus output in light simulated parameters. Data simulation only can enhance understanding these models work, but also enables perform power calculations complex designs. All materials associated article be accessed at https://osf.io/3cz2e/ .

Bilinear Mixed Effects Models for Dyadic Data

This article discusses the use of a symmetric multiplicative interaction effect to capture certain types of third-order dependence patterns often present in social networks and other dyadic datasets. Such an effect, along with standard linear fixed and random effects, is incorporated into a generalized linear model, and a Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm is provided for Bayesian estimation an...

Understanding Through Animal Models

Animal models in biomedical research provide an interactive, dynamic system that can be observed and manipulated experimentally in order to promote our understanding of a human condition or disease by elucidating the biological mechanisms underlying normal function and disease. Animal models allow researchers to test hypotheses about the causes and cures of a disorder and to develop effective t...

Understanding corporate data models

Corporate data models are widely used to support data management within organisations. However, both IS professionals and business users ®nd them dif®cult to understand. This paper describes a methodology for designing and representing corporate data models that uses explanation and visualisation mechanisms to improve understanding, and reports a case study of the use of the methodology in the ...

Functional mixed effects models.

In this article, a new class of functional models in which smoothing splines are used to model fixed effects as well as random effects is introduced. The linear mixed effects models are extended to nonparametric mixed effects models by introducing functional random effects, which are modeled as realizations of zero-mean stochastic processes. The fixed functional effects and the random functiona...
